PART-TIME COORDINATOR OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION JOB OPPORTUNITY
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Position
The Connecticut Farms Presbyterian church is seeking a Coordinator of Christian Education. The Coordinator of Christian Education shall focus on the educational needs of our congregation from birth through adulthood, and shall plan, develop, lead, nurture and grow the ministry for youth and children. The Coordinator shall work with church staff, the Session, and the Christian Education Committee to recruit, train and equip teachers and youth leaders while supporting these volunteers in the weekly endeavors of Christian Education.
Qualifications
This person should have a warm, inviting and accepting personality that is driven by a deep dedication to Christ. She/he should possess a love for children and youth and a genuine interest in building personal relationships with the young people of our congregation and their families. Candidates must possess good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and must be familiar with Microsoft Word.
Accountability
- Report directly to the Head of Staff
- Shall serve as an ex-officio member to the Christian Education Committee.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, oversee and coordinate the Church School Program for infants through adults
- Acquire and adapt curriculum materials, order necessary supplies and equipment
- Recruit, train and support teachers and substitutes
- Acquire and organize necessary supplies
- Plan special events
- Plan, organize and oversee Vacation Bible School and select curriculum in cooperation with the Christian Education committee, recruit and train volunteers for the VBS program
- Coordinate, advise and staff Youth Group Program
- Write monthly article for Almanac
- Attend monthly meeting of the Christian Education committee
- Attend weekly worship service and assist occasionally in the leadership of worship
- Must be prepared to communicate daily, as needed, with church staff, church members, teens, etc. using e-mail, text and social media
- Must be available to meet with the Head of Staff at least once per week during regular business hours
